The Body of the Analyst and the Analytic Setting - 5 April 2016, San Francisco

This is the second of two pre-seminars, designed to introduce the work and thinking of Alessandra Lemma, PINC’s 2016 International Visiting Scholar.

Maureen Murphy, PhD, will present Alessandra Lemma’s paper “The Body of the Analyst and the Analytic Setting: Reflections on the Embodied Setting and the Symbiotic Transference.” The paper takes up the idea that for patients in a symbiotic transference the body of the analyst embodies the setting. Signs of change in that body can then provoke primitive anxieties. Audience discussion of the paper will follow the presentation.
